Kyle Bass And China: What Gives?

Published / by Alice

Is Kyle Bass standing in a “pro” position toward China’s version of socialism, or is he against it? Or does Bass have in mind an idealized version of socialism which he’d rather see China adopt? It’s hard to tell. Many would argue that Bass isn’t even a socialist, but his history seems to demonstrate otherwise. From CAD to Bear-Stearns, Bass has a long history of capitalizing from the big-ticket losses of substantial economic powers; just like any socialist. He also has strong ties with a despotic socialist leader. Bass is from Argentina, and the president of that country is Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner. She has defaulted Argentina on two occasions in only thirteen years, and Bass seems to support her fully in everything he does and says in her regard.

When all these things are taken together, Bass saying China has a “forty to fifty percent” likelihood of facing a substantial economic collapse by the end of 2016 is something which sounds a little iffy. Socialist economic policy has different outcomes that are being sought, ergo predicating different modes of achieving them. Bass also said in the same Business Insider interview that China has built a credit bubble set to collapse within the next two to three years. While he doesn’t see a “Lehman Brothers moment” for the country, he does see collateral damage from the fallout resulting from his hypothetical collapse.

After saying these things, Bass continued the interview and when asked about his endorsement for president of America in 2016, he said that Hillary Clinton seemed to be the “most sane” player. When one considers that Bass also thinks de Kirchner is doing a great job with the Argentinian economy, and that CAD is a great way to help the sick remain sick, it seems as though Bass’ endorsements of China and Hillary may serve to drive American citizens toward obviously bad choices for the sake of diminishing this country’s economic largesse. It wouldn’t be a scheme beyond Bass, or the kind of socialist tactics those of his apparent ilk use on a regular basis. The Chinese crash seems imminent, but it could be that Bass is nurturing an ulterior motive in saying as much.

Securus Technology is working to make this world a safer place to live for all of us. Their headquarters is located in Dallas, Texas where they serve more than 3,450 public safety, law enforcement, collection agencies and over 1,200,000 inmates across North America. Securus Technology is committed to serve and connect by providing emergency response, incident management, investigation, public information, biometric analysis, information management, communication, inmate self service and monitoring products and services.

Securus Technologies announced that they were releasing multiple reports, facts, findings and articles that will site the wrongdoings and breaches of integrity by inmate communications provider Global Tel Link, also known as GTL.

The first in a series of articles to be published is one that highlights the wrongdoings and breaches of integrity by GTL. Richard A (Rick) Smith, chief executive officer of state, states “I love our industry – serving law enforcement, corrections, inmates, friends and family members, all of society.” and “it offends me and our entire industry when a carrier stoops well below the integrity bar that most other carriers have – but GTL does not. Our business mission is alot more than making money. It is to serve all of our customers with their best interests at heart – in the right way.”

One of the articles Securus Technologies is using in the hopes of shaming GTL into acting with integrity involves a formal 17 page order by the Louisiana Public Service Commission regarding the actions of GTL when they served the Louisiana Department of Corrections and provided outbound telecom services to thousands of inmates. The Louisiana Public Service Commission investigated the actions of GTL and found that the clocks in the phones were programmed to add either 15 or 36 seconds to the duration of the call, raise the rate of the call, artificially inflate the charges and bill a single call more than once.

These practices were unauthorized, unlawful and deliberate. As a reality Louisiana tax payers were overcharged in the amount of $1,243,000 and they have been continued since.

The SEC Whistleblower Program Strengthened with the Enactment of 2010 Dodd-Frank Act

Published / by Alice

Whistleblowers in the US and around the world have more reason to come forward to report possible violations of the federal securities laws to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). This is because of the sweeping changes provided for in the groundbreaking Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010. According to the SEC Whistleblower Advocate, the act provides huge financial incentives, employment protections and allows anonymous reporting and for eligible persons who report violations. Whistleblowers will be eligible for more protection than ever before, since the act guarantees powerful anti-retaliation protections.

The act allows whistleblowers to sue the employer in the federal court, if they become a subject of retaliation. The law also disqualifies employers from taking such acts as demotion, harassment, suspension or any such action on whistleblowers who provide information to SEC. SEC Whistleblowers may also report possible violations of the securities anonymously, if represented by an attorney. The attorney must be on hand to verify the identity of the whistleblower before any submissions are made to the Securities and Exchange Commission. The monetary sanctions and awards authorized under the act permits the payment of monetary awards to people who report securities law violations.

Sec is mandated to make a payment of between 10 – 30% to eligible whistleblowers when a successful SEC enforcement action, whose sanction amounts to over $1 million, is enforced. Following the enactment of the Dodd-Frank Act, Labaton Sucharow law firm became the first practice to exclusively start a practice dedicated to protecting and advocating for SEC whistleblowers in the US. The Whistleblower Representation Office includes a team of financial analysts, investigators and forensic accountants trained in federal and state law enforcement practices to ensure unparalleled representation. The team is led by the experienced former Assistant Director and Assistant Chief Litigation Counsel under the SEC Division of Enforcement office, Mr. Jordan A. Thomas.

The Whistleblower Representation Team at Labaton Sucharow can be contacted via email, phone and or electronic submission via the law office website. For over 50 years, the practice has kept in touch with changes in the market in order to meet the growing needs of its clients. According to Labaton website, the high standards of representation and grasp of market changes have seen the practice prosecute precedent setting securities class actions, which have led to the recovery of billions of dollars. Labaton Sucharow practice areas include securities, litigation, financial products and services, antitrust and competition and consumer protection.
