In November 5, 2015, IAP Worldwide Services acquired DRS Technologies, a logistics and tactical communications company that deals with aviation located in Oklahoma City. According to an article posted on PR Newswire, this move was meant to advance their agenda in ensuring the company grows into a reliable entity well equipped to handle virtually all areas of business. IAP Worldwide will incorporate unique talents and capabilities that will enable the company satisfy its long-term growth strategy.
The acquisition will allow IAP Worldwide Services to offer more services to customers and will also see the company penetrate further into more countries. It would also help to double the size of addressable market since the acquired companies will be integrated into one business unit that will be offering aviation and engineering solutions. According to the CEO of IAP, Doug Kitani, the acquisition of DSR would be a natural fit for the company and would help to expand the services portfolio of the company.
IAP Worldwide Services in history
In 1953, IAP Worldwide Services was launched under the business name Pan Am World Services. The company mainly operated in the American market under their space launch complex situated in Cape Canaveral, FL. The company mainly offered support for the testing of launches and air-breathing missiles. More than 45 years later, the company had grown and was now offering full facilities maintenance which includes construction management, master planning and technical support.
In 1990, IAP Worldwide Services was launched in Irmo, SC. The company would work as a logistics and procurement firm and began with a contract to supply generators to the U.S. Army based in Saudi Arabia The company would sometimes support the military in their operations and continued to win international airport procurement contracts. By 2006, IAP Worldwide Services had acquired several companies in a bid to expand its service base. Some of the companies acquired include G3 Systems Ltd., an engineering firm based in the UK.
