The Best Franchisee of the World award 2015 edition was won by Omar Yunes a Mexican franchisee for the Sushi Itto brand. The award recognized his tremendous contribution regarding valuable innovations, leaderships, and management. Omar manages 13 units based in Veracruz, Mexico City, and Puebla. Winning the award has proved beneficial both to the country’s franchise industry as well as the brand.
Omar Yunes began working as a franchise for the Japanese food business when he was only 21 years old. Through exceptional leadership and innovation, he has expanded to own nearly 10% of the brand’s total units. During the national chapter of the BFW competition, Omar received recognition for his innovations that led to improving information management and performance measurement.
During the global event, the performance of the participating franchisees was evaluated based on their contribution to the network on various aspects. These included knowledge contribution, teamwork, total sales, and savings. The influence on employees’ motivation also formed the basis of judgment in the competition. As a result, Omar thanked his 400 hundred staff members for their commitment to excellence.

Commenting on the award, the organizer of BFW Mexico chapter, Diego Elizarraras, said it placed the country in its rightful place at the global level. Omar Yunes faced stiff competition from the world best franchisees, who at represented some of the leading worldwide brands. At the national level, he competed with other 34 franchises. The first runners-up, Ivan Tamer of Prendamex stood out for his innovative marketing system that revolutionized the brand’s franchise.
At the global event held in Florence Italy, he faced competitors from 34 countries including Argentina, France, Portugal, Hungary, and Brazil. Consequently, clinching the award proved his exceptional performance as a franchisee and industry leader.
