CEO of Dating App Bumble Gets Married In Italy

Published / by Alice / Leave a Comment

When you are a young woman looking for love sometimes the idea of finding a life partner can seem to be a little (read: very) discouraging. With the revelation that even women as beautiful and successful as Beyonce have trouble finding a faithful partner it might seem as though there is little hope for the average woman to find a partner who will treat her with respect. After all a simple google search can yield first person accounts of what women who decide to turn to online dating go through when they test the waters and attempt to use technology as a tool for looking for a mate. Whether it’s the messages from matches on dating apps that soon go from overly familiar to hostile or receiving suggestive pictures that you didn’t ask dating online is not easy for many women. Fortunately, as the saying goes, there is an app for that.

A newish dating app that is known as Bumble has arrived on the scene to bring something different to the buffet of dating apps that exist in the marketplace. One of the many things that sets Bumble apart from its competitors is the amount of power that the app places in the hands of its female users. Bumble currently serves as a way for people seeking romantic relationships, business associates or platonic friendships to connect. With regard to interactions on the app that occur between people who are seeking romantic heterosexual relationships the power to begin the interaction begins with the female user. Female users on Bumble are the ones who have the power to start a conversation with someone the app has messaged them with. If the woman does not start a conversation with a connection within 24 hours, that particular connection disappears. Users do have the ability, however, to request a 24 hour extension each day. The goal of having women control whether or not a conversation occurs is to prevent the sort of caustic conversations that all often spiral into harassment on other dating apps.

Bumble was founded by tech entrepreneur Whitney Wolfe. Whitney Wolfe serves as Bumble’s Chief Executive Officer. She was recently married herself to her boyfriend Michael Herd, who is from a family that is known for its success in the oil industry. Whitney and Michael were married in Italy on the Amalfi coast. She wore a white, lace gown for the ceremony and enjoyed a wedding cake layered with fresh fruit.
